Optimistically we are still hoping for league play to be able to begin on May 18 and we continue to proceed toward that date. That start date, however, will be dependent on future direction from our New York State and Federal governments regarding the relaxation of physical distancing restrictions. The Thruway League Board of Directors has made some definitive decisions which are presented below. June 1, 2020 : If league play must be postponed until June 1, we will implement some form of an abbreviated league schedule, with details to be determined. June 27, 2020 : If league play cannot start by June 27 then the 2020 league season will be cancelled. Refund Policy : Should league play be cancelled we will implement a league registration fee refund policy, the specific details of which are to be determined. Sincerely, Thruway League Board of Directors Welcome to the Thruway Soccer League Welcome to the home of the Thruway Soccer League, the place for premier teams to play soccer in central and western New York state. Why play in the Thruway League? The Thruway League is the only true promotion/relegation premier league in New York West. The Thruway League is a qualifying league for the US Youth Soccer National Championship Series for New York State West Youth Soccer . The Thruway League can be a qualifying league for the US Youth Soccer National Chamionship Series for Eastern NY teams, however they need to contact the Eastern NY Youth Soccer office with a written request asking for permission to use the Thruway League as their Cup qualifying league. 2020 Thruway Applications will open November 15th, 2019 The Executive Committee of the Thruway Soccer League met on October 7th, 2019 and announces the following for the coming 2020 seaon: Team applications will open on November 15th, 2019 and close on January 17th, 2020 Team Payments must be paid in FULL by January 24th, 2020 (Both the registration and referee fees). NO EXCEPTIONS! Team acceptance and division placement will be announced no later than January 31st, 2020 Roster freeze will occur on February 14th at 11:55pm. Teams must be 50%+1 age appropriate or you will not be permitted to schedule. Division scheduling to start by March 2, 2020. All Games must be scheduled and finalized by April 17 , 2020. NO EXCEPTIONS! Game play to start from May 18th , 2020 and the last scheduled games will be accepted until August 9th 2020. Please read the Team Acceptance and Placement Document before, during, and after applying! Also, make sure that your registered coach also fulfill the coaching license requirements for the division applying for. In other changes for the 2020 season, the following will be incorporated into the league policies: Reschedule Weekend - any games that remain unscheduled by April 1, 2020 will be scheduled and MUST be played on the third weekend of July. Failure to make up unscheduled games on this reschedule weekend could result in no re-entry to the league the following season. Plan your season calendar appropriately. There will be no excuses accepted to not play make up games on these dates. 50%+1 Rule will be for the age groups 11U-16U, while the older age groups (17U, 18/19U), will not adhere to the rule. 1 game a day - P layers (including guest players) are not allowed to participate in more than one game per day from U13-up. For the 11U and 12U age groups , teams will be allowed to play up to 2 league games in a single day subject to the following criteria Each team will be allowed only two such 2-game days per league season The travelling team must be travelling a minimum of 80 miles to the game location, with the distance to be measured from the center of the team's home town to the game site. Travel distances less than that will not qualify The minimum time between the 2 games' start times must be 4 hours Only the travelling team will be allowed to play 2 games in the same day How do I log into my team page? Log in to print your roster and report your scores. Look in the policies and procedures menu and find the article entitled " How do I Log into My Team Page " for complete instructions on how to log in. It is important for teams to know how to access this page to print out match line up rosters and report your match scores. A reminder to Coaches - Updated 3/30/2020 All coaches in the 1st Division are required to hold a USSF D License, all coaches in the 2nd division must hold two USSF Grassroots Licenses (In person 9v9 and 11v11 only)* Coach License Requirements: For this 2020 season only, due to the impact on coach license course dates, any coach who does not have the requisite license for the division in which he/she coaches (minimum D license for the National Division, minimum E license for the Presidents Division), that coach may be on the sideline for games provided that another coach is with him/her that does have the requisite license. *Coaches who currently hold an equivalent license from a recognized organization other than USSF and have coached annually in the Thruway League from 2014 forward will be grandfathered. Format of Game Play Per US Youth Soccer Rule 302. SUBSTITUTIONS Section 1. Except as provided by USYSA or its State Associations, substitutions shall be unlimited except where specified otherwise in the rules and regulations for a special competition. Section 2. Substitutions may be made, with the consent of the referee, at any stoppage in play.
